Class is still a nation

This was linked to from glennsacks.com today:

S.A.C. Capital Advisors LCC: Major hedge-fund company S.A.C. Capital Advisors, founded in the early 1990s, is a "$14 billion dollar group of multi-strategy, multi-discipline" company. Yet in 2007, a scandal erupted that "stunned" Wall Street. Former S.A.C. Capital Advisors employee Andrew Tong filed suit against his supervisor Ping Jiang, whom is said to have forced Tong into taking female hormones and wearing female clothing in order "to eliminate the trader’s aggressive male attitude so he could become a more obedient and detail-oriented player" at work, The New York Times reports. According to CNBC, S.A.C. Capital Advisors and Ping Jiang "vehemently deny the charges" and have reached no settlement with Tong.

I don't really have anything to add to that. There's not much more I can say.

So let's move on. Or rather back, to Christmas of 1914. The fighting men showing their humanity to their fellow man through the medium of football, a nice little kickabout in no-man's land. Germany winning through and offside-goal, I hear, although in reality there were considerably more than one game. It's not the most impressive of shows of working-class solidarity, but it's the most human. No Americans invited of course, being both before their involvement and in the form of a sport their organised working class was never strong enough to adopt.

A little known fact is that the first international cricket match was between the USA and Canada.

Class, as I say, is a nation, more likely to make people similar than the country in whcih they were born, especially with the ruling class. Nation is just an illusion created by the prestidigitators of the masses. Bloody Mary gave Calais back to the French and married a Spaniard because she was a ruler first and English second if at all.

Stockholm syndrome is a good example. The origins of the name are in a Swedish bank vault where some bank robbers and their hostages took refuge after the police arrived before they had a chance to escape. I imagine the hostages weren't best pleased to start with, having been made hostages, but eventually they got over their annoyance. They became very friendly with their captors, offering to act as human shields and engaging in sexual relations with their captors. Of course the forces of law and order like to portray this as sinister mind control, which they'd know all about, but it's something far more dangerous to them: empathy. Stockholm Syndrome has never been reported between people who speak different languages and come from different cultures, such as westerners in Lebanon, but it's the normal experience between similar people. It should be expected. Only the artificial seperations imposed on us make it surprising.

This fellowship is obviously stronger between men.

ray's blog:

Headless and heedless, she gallops across the globe, shrieking for -- and getting -- the manblood that, for reasons still unexplained, sustains and comforts and delights her.

And from Njal's Saga, in some bizarre olde time translation I found on the web:

"Not so," says she, "thou shalt live all the same, and be called a better man, if thou betrayest not him to whom thou oughtest to behave best."
Then she took a linen hood out of her bag, it was clotted with blood all over, and torn and tattered, and said, "This hood, Hauskuld Njal's son, and thy sister's son, had on his head when they slew him; methinks, then, it is ill doing to stand by those from whom this mischief sprang."
"Well!" answers Ingialld, "so it shall be that I will not be against Njal whatever follows after, but still I know that they will turn and throw trouble on me."
"Now mightest thou," said Rodny, "yield Njal and his sons great help, if thou tellest him all these plans."
"That I will not do," says Ingialld, "for then I am every man's dastard if I tell what was trusted to me in good faith; but it is a manly deed to sunder myself from this quarrel when I know that there is a sure looking for of vengeance but tell Njal and his sons to be ware of themselves all this summer, for that will be good counsel, and to keep many men about them."

.. I am inclined to regard the enormous importance of the sissy concept in American life as due to that feminine dominance which is everywhere apparent ...
-- Eric Dingwall, "the American Woman"

Fascism is a female dominance cult, a hysterical movement of the weak-minded into militarism and the ill-focused effeminate vengefulness they're so famous for.

"In like manner, the scientific rulers will provide one kind of education for ordinary men and women, and another for those who are to become holders of scientific power. Ordinary men and women will be expected to be docile, industrious, punctual, thoughtless, and contented. Of these qualities, probably contentment will be considered the most important. In order to produce it, all the researches of psycho-analysis, behaviourism, and biochemistry will be brought into play.... All the boys and girls will learn from an early age to be what is called 'co-operative,' i.e., to do exactly what everybody is doing. Initiative will be discouraged in these children, and insubordination, without being punished, will be scientifically trained out of them."
-- Bertrand Russell

It is to be expected that advances in physiology and psychology will give governments much more control over individual mentality than they now have even in totalitarian countries. Fitche laid it down that education should aim at destroying free will, so that, after pupils have left school, they shall be incapable, throughout the rest of their lives, of thinking or acting otherwise than as their schoolmasters would have wished.
Diet, injections, and injunctions will combine, from a very early age, to produce the sort of character and the sort of beliefs that the authorities consider desirable, and any serious criticism of the powers that be will become psychologically impossible.
.....
I think the subject which will be of most importance politically is mass psychology.... Its importance has been enormously increased by the growth of modern methods of propaganda. Of these the most influential is what is called 'education.' Religion plays a part, though a diminishing one; the press, the cinema, and the radio play an increasing part.... It may be hoped that in time anybody will be able to persuade anybody of anything if he can catch the patient young and is provided by the State with money and equipment.
Although this science will be diligently studied, it will be rigidly confined to the governing class. The populace will not be allowed to know how its convictions were generated. When the technique has been perfected, every government that has been in charge of education for a generation will be able to control its subjects securely without the need of armies or policemen.
-- Russell

More eventually. Next year, most like.
